Feeding at 3am: setting up so it is easier
Night feeds are not a problem to solve. They are a routine to make shorter and warmer.

A night feed takes twenty minutes. Finding the light, the balm, the muslin and a clean bra can take another fifteen. That fifteen is what you can actually change.
Decide the night route before dark
Same seat, same lamp, same order every time. Baby wakes, you sit in the same place, everything is where it was last night. Repetition is what lets you feed half-asleep — and half-asleep is the goal.
Night-side setup
Keep the room boring
No bright light, no conversation, no nappy change unless you need one. Feed, wind, back down. The nights get shorter faster when they are dull.
Anything you have to stand up for at 3am is in the wrong place.
If you are expressing
- Assemble the pump before bed — not at 3am on a counter.
- Keep a second set of parts clean so you never wash anything at night.
- Label with time before you put it in the fridge. You will not remember.
